Below is a copy of a Garrick Properties Limited brochure from around 2005 outlining a number of completed developments in London. The Sussex Streatham High Road SW16 (14 units) and The Driftbridge Hotel Reigate Road Epsom Surrey (24 units) were the two principle developments, completed towards the end of the period.
Garrick Properties Limited had a niche in the market, dealing primarily with the acquisition of period and listed buildings. Subject to planning, the properties would then be converted into luxury apartments and sold on the open market.
As the director of the company, the duty of finding properties and deals was my responsibility. This usually involved discovering properties not openly advertised on the market. Once suitable properties and deals had been discovered, Roger Taylor (FRICS) the senior partner and I would meet to decide to either build it out or trade it on.
I resigned from the company / partnership amicably in 2005. The company was dissolved shortly afterwarrds. Roger Taylor is still involved in the London property market.
I have been residing in The Kingdom of Thailand for the last eight years. My involvement in the London property market is now on a much smaller scale, mainly as an investor. However if the right property or deal were to turn up, then I may find old habits are VERY hard to break!
